Author Overview
Rose Langshaw
Kane Langshaw
ROSE LANGSHAW – The youngest of five children, Rose was raised mostly as an only child, her parents surprised to add to their brood in their late forties.
This upbringing granted her with a unique perspective, as she was surrounded by adults who loved recounting stories of their youth, not to mention a mother who enjoyed the past and the unexplained. The family often gave her books as presents on the subject. Rose read these avidly.
Her favourite childhood book was The Silver Brumby, with lots of different genres to follow. The urge to write did not appear until her late twenties, after vainly searching for something different, something fun. Something a little out there.
From that search sprung the desire to write. Write what she could not find, and to stick with it no matter what.
KANE LANGSHAW – At a time when others loved playing football and cricket, Kane was studying Tae Kwon Do and making movies. On weekends and school holidays, he would badger his sisters and cousins, sometimes friends to stand before his camera, desperate to make a short movie.
As he got older, he became fascinated with special effects, finally completing the study of 3D Animation for film and television in his early twenties. During those studies, he wrote short scripts for commercials, etc. It is here his interest in writing was sparked.
Though he still loves film and television, the ability to live another life, write what his mind conjures he finds truly satisfying. One moment you are flying among the stars, talking with new species, the next you’re on a battlefield seeking answers to ancient secrets. What could be better than that?

It all began with a boy, and a love of science fiction.
While watching a four-year-old Kane sitting in front of the television pretending to be Luke Skywalker flying his X Wing down the trench run, Rose got an idea. Or it grabbed her. From the back of her mind, an image jumped forward, the final scene of the first book, and there was no shaking it.
Though a life-long reader, she had never written a novel, let alone knew the term world building. Diving in, she let the characters have their way for almost twelve months.
Rose ignored the piled-up washing, somehow managing to cook and clean for her husband and two kids. They had no clue she was writing until she was almost halfway through.
The moment she finished, she stuffed the binder in a desk drawer, breathing a huge sigh of relief. It was finished, done, or so she thought. She decided to have another baby.
Over the next ten years, Rose worked on the family dairy farm, played at writing, even tried another genre, but no book ever grabbed her like that first one. Whenever she peaked into that world, she recognised it was going to be a massive undertaking, so decided to put it away, have her family now. Something that big could wait.
By the time Kane was studying 3D Animation, her youngest daughter was studying dance. The family had moved off the farm and were now running a boarding kennel. It was time to pull out the book, take another peak. Still a sci fi lover, Kane read it for the first time, instantly recognising the depth of the world.
Like it had her so long ago, an idea grabbed him, one that compelled him to ask if she would consider expanding her story arc to include his, for the two of them to write together.
Little did either know what they started, but the characters did. Now, almost eight years later they are inviting you – into the unknown – with them.
